A quick update...
Since starting the podcast in 2020, I've never taken such an extended break as the one this year. Shortly after hitting 100 episodes, the feed went quiet and I disappeared for a few months. I hadn't planned on such a long hiatus, but life had other plans.
Several major life changes brought things to a halt. In April, we welcomed Emiliana to our family. I took two full weeks off work to help at home, and things never quite returned to normal after that.
We had a whirlwind summer with a lot of traveling in June, a full month in Colombia visiting family, and the back-to-school season—we barely caught our breath. To top it off, I left Foothills after nearly 5 years and joined Jacobs as a bridge engineer.
Volunteering slowed down briefly before ramping up again in early October. I was elected to chair the SEI Student Engagement Committee and joined the SEI Professional Communities ExComm. I'm thrilled to serve in these roles.
Needless to say, I'm still catching up on life. Sadly, Engineering our Future took a back seat while I figured out a path forward. That brings us to today.
Back in the Swing of Things
Nicolai and I have already resumed recording, and it felt fantastic to be back behind the microphone. Editing some unreleased episodes has reminded me how much I love podcasting and connecting with listeners. As we approach the end of 2024, I'm reflecting on nearly five years of podcasting. What began as a fun hobby has evolved into a core part of my identity. It has helped me connect with so many of you, both virtually and in person.
We have planned episodes but would love to hear from you. If you have pressing questions, challenges you're facing, or anything else, let us know through the this Form. We'd love to help you out.
What's Next?
So, what can you expect?
We're back to our regular schedule, with new podcast episodes releasing every Wednesday morning. While the podcast remains my top priority, I'll continue publishing the Newsletter at least every other week. This format has proven to be an excellent way to connect with you all. By exploring in-depth topics based on my recent readings and learnings, I've found a rewarding method to distill and process information. It's been gratifying to hear that many of you enjoy this content and the discussions it sparks.
Before I sign off, I want to say a massive thank you for sticking around. Your encouraging messages during my absence meant the world to me. You're not just readers; you're a community that I'm proud to be part of.
Here's to new beginnings and exciting content ahead! Let’s continue Engineering our Future.
